Main Roads Western Australia has chosen consultant Aecom to take part in the $1.05bn (£662M) Gateway WA Alliance Perth Airport and Freight Access project.
The project alliance to improve access to one of Australia’s busiest airports will be completed over the next four years.
It will also relieve pressure on the Tonkin Highway, currently the main access road to the airport and the Kewdale Freight Hub.
“This project has been on Aecom’s radar for more than four years,” said Aecom’s nominated Alliance board member Abra DeKlerk.
We initially worked closely with Leighton Contractors, but given the scale of the project and its strategic importance, a decision was made to bring in the other three partners to form a formidable alliance.”
Aecom will join consultants GHD and BG&E to design the project. Contractors Leighton and Georgiou Group will construct the project.
