Perth Airport has signed a contract with infrastructure firm Brierty to build a new ‘Airport Drive’ and associated features which will link Terminals 1 and 2 and be completed by the first half of 2015.
The 1.6 kilometre road will provide direct access from the Tonkin and Leach Highway interchange via Horrie Miller Drive.
Also part of the upgrade includes the extension of the Terminal 1 forecourt for a future plaza, new pick up and drop off lanes and an expansion of the short-term car park.
Perth Airport CEO, Brad Geatches said;
“While much of the work taking place will not impact the customer journey, when required, a detailed traffic management plan will be implemented to ensure ease of access to Terminals 1 and 2 is maintained at all times.
“With Virgin Australia relocating (its) domestic services to the new pier at the western end of T1 in 2015, completion of these works will ensure an improved customer experience for all passengers.”
