VIRGIN Australia low-cost offshoot Tigerair Australia is set to join the international stage with flights from Perth to Denpasar now available for booking from late March next year.
The reason for the move to a low-cost approach is thanks to a restructuring of the full-service carrier, which recorded a pre-tax loss of $49 million.
As a result, the airline’s five weekly Phuket service will also be suspended from 31 January.
The Tigerair Australia flights will operate daily, a reduction of 2-weekly from the current mainline services.
From 23 March 2016:
TT18 DPS1440 – 1830PER 738 D
TT19 PER1925 – 2310DPS 738 D
Flights will use three Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 aircraft, repainted into the yellow Tigerair livery and reconfigured into an all-economy layout.
The airline will also operate international services to Denpasar from Adelaide and Melbourne, also taking over from the mainline carrier in those cities.
