Regional Express has today released fares and schedules for its Albany and Esperance services, due to begin from 28FEB16.

THE State Government has awarded Regional Express (Rex) Airlines the operating rights for the Perth – Albany, and Perth – Esperance routes for a period of five years, effective from 28 February next year. This marks Rex’s entrance into the Western Australian aviation industry.
Taking over the from Virgin Australia Regional, who pulled out of tendering due to its nature as loss-making routes, Rex will increase flight frequency and seat capacity on the Albany and Esperance routes as compared with the existing service.
Rex currently operates to over sixty destinations in eastern Australia. Transport Minister Dean Nalder said,

Rex offer a frequent flyer program for its business travellers as well as access to a bar service, enabling passengers to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus free water and savoury snacks.
Rex will utilise SAAB 340 aircraft on the routes. Rex has not made any comment regarding confirmation as at time of posting.
Rex was ranked by Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine as the Top Performing Regional Airline in the world over the period 2009-2014 (five years) and has been voted the Best Regional Airline in the Australian Traveller People’s Choice Awards Survey three times since 2011.
Rex currently operates about 1,300 weekly flights to more than 60 destinations in South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland.
